Josh and Heather - Shilstone House - summer wedding

Josh & Heather: Church wedding at St Michael’s and All Angels, Cornwood, followed by a wedding reception at Shilstone House, Devon.

All weddings are a privilege to be involved in but there’s something very special about shooting weddings where your very close friend is the father of the groom! (Not to mention, a little bit of extra pressure too perhaps!).

Even after ten plus years I get butterflies… but as soon as a arrive at the venue I'm fine, so I was glad to find Welbeck Manor tucked away in Sparkwell, Devon. This is where the bridal party were getting ready with make-up by Liza and Amore Hair.

I love the getting ready pics.  It gives me a bit of time to settle in and meet some of the stars of the day. I’ve been told I have a calming way about me, so it also helps to be able to put people at ease where I can. Welbeck was lovely and I finished my little sesh there with a bridal party prosecco toast!

Then to the groom’s party where the boys getting spruced up in classic black tie attire. It was great to be amongst the banter and get some pics of them walking to the church.

St Michaels and All Angels in Cornwood, Devon, is a classic C of E church with roots dating back to the 13th Century. Josh and Heather’s traditional Devon church wedding there was beautiful. In keeping with a request from the couple we mixed up my usual reportage style of photography with some wedding editorial vibes. As with all fab weddings, the ceremony part of the day was triumphantly brought to a close with a lush confetti shot!

I hadn’t been to Shilstone House before, so it was great to be there for the wedding drinks reception onwards. There are lots of lovely nooks and parts of the grounds to hang out in and take gorgeous pics of the newlyweds for couple time. Following the speeches the cigars came out… The bride joined in! It’s 2026 after all! And then to the dance-floor with Marco DJ from Bespoke Disco for revelry and throwing shapes. Plus a classic, kiss through heart-hands!

Josh and Heather, you were absolute stars and so welcoming and lovely to me, as was the rest of the wedding party! THANK YOU so much for having me along, and for the – brought a tear to my eye – lovely five star review!* THANK YOU!

Huge congratulations Mr & Mrs Goodliffe!

*five-star review:

‘From the moment Andy arrived, he had such a calm and friendly nature that immediately made me feel relaxed, and throughout the day he kept checking in on both me and Josh to make sure we were okay and enjoying every moment.

I gave Andy complete creative freedom, with the only thing I specifically asked for being a private photoshoot inside the church. Those photos completely exceeded our expectations. Andy managed to capture the little moments so beautifully, you can feel the happiness and joy coming through the photos.

When we opened our gallery, we were honestly speechless. Every photo is beautifully captured, full of emotion, and the quality is incredible. So many of them genuinely look like they belong in Vogue!

Andy didn’t just document our wedding, he captured the feelings and emotions of the day, and we’ll treasure these photos for the rest of our lives. We couldn’t recommend him highly enough!’

THANK YOU!! ax.
