 PHOTOGRAPHER // ARTIST // TRAVELLER

Hi there! Andy here – I’m the face behind the camera at ‘U Got The Love’. I’m deeply  passionate about all things photography and I’m rarely without my camera!

I was born in Cornwall and raised in Plymouth. I have a foot in both camps … cream teas, the Devon or Cornwall way? Neither! The Lawson way is double dairy; butter first, jam next and then clotted cream is the way we roll. Delish!!

After 20 years living in London where I studied art and photography – subjects I went on to teach at Degree level at LMU uni – I returned to the Southwest.

I love how rugged and picturesque Cornwall and Devon are. You’ll often find me wandering about coastal paths with my camera. I have an art studio in North Cornwall where I draw and paint amongst other art forms. I play guitar and sing (okay, not as well as the bro!)

I’m blessed to have a super lovely family – especially my two brothers, Al and Jamie! In fact, I'm pretty blessed all round really, doing a job that I love and living not too far from the Seven Bays area of North Cornwall, a more beautiful place you’d be hard pushed to find on its day! I also love to travel… anywhere really… variety – as the say – is the spice of life! (I particularly love France and spent six months on a wanderlust trip in my van a few years back).

Other things I love > music! God, what would we do without music!! I’m a geek for Muji stationary. I love reading and dabble with poetry.

My favourite photographers include; Jitka Hanzlova, Vanessa Winship, Laura Pannack, Lauren Henkin, Mark Power, Harry Callaghan, Alec Soth, William Eggleston, Mick WIlliamson, Dragana Jurrisic, Mary Ellen Mark and Rosalind Fox Solomon, Tony Ray-Jones and Don McCullin; this is just the tip of the iceberg... Oh, and I love artists Fischli & Weiss, Van Gogh, and Cy Twombly... but I'd better stop there or we'll be here all day...

Some favourite authors/books; Nick Hornby’s ‘High Fidelity’ and Miranda July's ‘No One Belongs Here More Than You’, It's a book of short stories and goes everywhere with me; its one of the most moving, funny and obscure books you’ll ever read, 'The World According to Garp' by John Irving, so many books by Julian Barnes,  and 'The Life of Pi' by Yann Martel & many more...

If you have any questions, or you want to check my availability, you can contact me > here < or use the CONTACT form via the link at the bottom of the page. I’d LOVE to hear from you! all the very best, Andy x.
